The Third ASEM Working Group Seminar on Eco-Innovation Competence of SMEs

“The third ASEM Working Group Seminar on Eco-Innovation Competence of SMEs” was held for three days, from Tue, May 31 to Thu, Jun 2 2016, at the Imperial Palace Hotel in Seoul, Korea. Representatives of 15 ASEM member states have participated in this event, including Belgium, Cambodia. Denmark, Hungary, Korea, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam.
 
On the first day of the Seminar was started by presentations from participants on eco-innovation case studies of each countries, followed by smaller group discussions to elaborate potential collaboration projects within the ASEM region. Connected with the 2nd seminar, which was held in Bratislava, Slovakia, in terms of subject, these groups focused on three major areas ; Government capacity building to support SME’s Eco-Innovation, Eco-Innovation Advisory service for SMEs and SMEs Eco-innovation Competence Development. 
 
For the purpose to enhance SMEs competence towards sustainable development in the future, 7 project ideas were brainstormed during the seminar. : Foresight for Eco-innovation, Green Deals for ASEM, Global Recognition of Environmental Technology Verification, IT Information Platform, Business-to-business (B2B), Consulting Services and On/off line Training Program Development.
 
These topics will finally be proposed as joint projects at the 11th ASEM Summit, preparing to take place in Mongolia on July 14-15 2016. The second day of the seminar was an opportunity for the working group to announce a recommendation for the ASEM Summit to promote SMEs competitiveness towards sustainable development. Participants also attended the 38th Environmental Technology & Green Energy Exhibition (ENVEX 2015)”.
