ASEM Eco-Innovation Index is making meaningful progress!
ASEM Eco Innovation Index (ASEI) has been gradually attracting the interests of international experts from many different fields of environment, industry, green growth, sustainable development and eco-innovation. ASEI is gaining in recognition among the experts as an interesting, as well as a promising research project. Many agree that ASEI, after its 3-year development period (2012-2014), has to continue its function as an important method in raising awareness on eco-innovation and providing essential information to strategically approach sustainable development. During the hot summer of 2013, ASEIC and its research partner Sustinvest conducted extensive review sessions of the ASEI 2013. Many experts around the globe shared brilliant ideas from terminology and methodologies, to the value and future direction of ASEI.
Compared to ASEI 2012, there have been several important and meaningful areas of progress in ASEI 2013. First of all, ASEI 2013 is looking at the eco-innovation status of 25 ASEM member countries, whereas it was just 15 in 2012. ASEI aims to include all 49 ASEM member countries from ASEI 2014.
ASEI 2013 is also developing a framework on the relation between eco-innovation and sustainable development which will strengthen the soundness of the measurement and analysis. Richer national eco-innovation trends will be updated by looking at various aspects involving eco-innovation. Moreover, ASEI 2013 will try to show the role of business and SMEs in eco-innovation by examining the correlation between business and eco-innovation, and offering best practices that resulted in significant economic, social and environmental impacts. Most importantly, the index will put a greater emphasis on the potential of the eco-innovation among the emerging countries as well as various eco-innovation lessons that can be learned throughout different regions, economies and cultures. |
