ASEIC held Eco-Innovation Capacity Building
Seminar in Thailand
To share experience of eco-friendly product procurement between Korea and Thailand and raise awareness of eco-innovation

ASEM SMEs Eco-Innovation Centre (Chairman, Myung Ki SUNG) held the ‘ASEM Eco-Innovation Capacity Building Seminar’ for two days from 16th to 17th November at the Novotel Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand. The main purpose of this seminar was to share Korea’s experience in introducing the eco-design ...and procurement for eco-friendly product as well as strengthening s awareness on eco-innovation for Thai SMEs in the sector of furniture and building materials.

National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) in Thailand supported this program. ASEIC and NSTDA have strengthened its cooperation on mutual support for adoption and dissemination of eco-innovation practices and promotion of eco-efficiency since 2016.

During the seminar, lectures on the global eco-market trends and eco-procurement system had been provided for the first day and practices utilizing eco-innovation tools were introduced on the following day. More than eighty representatives from SMEs participated in this seminar. ASEIC hopes that his seminar acts as a springboard for eco-innovation technology exchange between two countries.

ASEIC is an inter-governmental body that raises eco-innovation-related awareness, facilitates relevant technology cooperation and exchanges information that promotes eco-innovative growth primarily for SMEs in the ASEM region. Since its launch in 2011, ASEIC has contributed in helping SMEs to respond to climate change by sharing know-how on low-carbon growth and good practices that minimizes environmental effect within the ASEM channel.
