On the 31stย of May, ASEIC had a meeting with Dr. Arjan De Haan, the program leader at International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada.
ย
IDRC is a Canadian Crown corporation established by anย act of Parliamentย in 1970 to help developing countries to find solutionsย for their problems. IDRC encourages and supports researchers and innovators in those countries to find practical, long-term solutions for the social, economic, and environmental problems thatย their societies are facing. IDRCโs goal is to find theย ways to reduce poverty and improve public health as well as toย support innovation and protectย the environment.

IDRCโs Supporting Inclusive Growth (SIG) program has just completed its first year with notable advancements in the implementation of its prospectus. SIG program is dedicated toย find outย how economic growth can increase economic opportunities for the poor and marginalized and reduce inequality while emphasizing the value of green growth, entrepreneurship and the role of SMEs.
SIG is implementing interesting programs worldwide including Green Indicators in SMEs in Latin American region sharing similar vision with ASEICโs ASEM Eco-Innovation Index (ASEI) that aims to promote eco-innovation of SMEs in ASEM member countries. SIG program also supports an inclusive growth project in Peru and Argentina which can be learned and shared with ASEICโs Inclusive eco-innovation project.
Throughoutย theย meeting,ย Dr.ย Deย Haanย showedย hisย commitmentย towardsย international development all over the world.ย He was willing to share opportunities andย build up relationship with ASEIC underย the ultimate vision of sustainable development.
