Background

The ASEM SMEs Eco-Innovation Center (ASEIC) was established in February 2011 with the principal mandate of promoting Asia-Europe cooperation to create and enhance eco-innovation of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in both regions. The environmental and economic dimension of discourse was entrusted to the ASEIC beyond geographical distances. At the 8th ASEM Summit held in Brussels, Belgium in 2010, the leaders from ASEM member countries officially endorsed the establishment of ASEIC as an international platform to facilitate constructive discussion among governments, businesses, and individuals. ASEIC promotes international collaboration and green business opportunities by providing advisory services and disseminating best practices in eco-innovation. Key activities of ASEIC are as follows:

Advisory Services
  -   Providing Eco-Innovation Consulting services (Implementation & Diagnosis / Training & Education)
Knowledge Sharing
  -  Providing information on environmental policies, regulations, latest news etc.
  -  Sharing eco-innovation best practices and eco-friendly products
  -  Publishing research reports
Communications
  -  Holding international conferences and building global partnerships
  -  Collaboration with international organizations
 

ASEIC encourages all ASEM member countries to actively be involved in these key activities for the benefit of accelerating SMEs eco-innovation and green management practices, and disseminating the effectiveness of such measures worldwide. Duties and Responsibilities

The Communications Assistant will assist in the strategic development and implementation of the ASEM SMEs Eco-Innovation Center (ASEIC) communications and outreach activities. More specifically, the Communications Assistant will be responsible for the following:

  • Help oversee the development and maintenance of the ASEIC’s online outreach. This includes writing content, sourcing photos and providing updates for the website and press release, as well as ASEIC’s Facebook, Twitter and Youtube pages by assisting programme officers and managers.
  • Assist with the promotion and production of several ASEIC reports and preparation of conferences.
  • Monitor up-to-date publications and activities of international organization, such as UNEP, UNESCAP, OECD, Global Green Growth Institute, etc and conduct ad-hoc research on sustainable development issues such as eco-innovation, green growth, green economy, etc.
  • Provide general assistant activities

 

Qualifications / special skills or knowledge

Knowledge of the full range of communications approaches, tools, and methodologies essential to planning and executing effective campaign strategies and programmes. The ability to rapidly analyze and integrate diverse information from varied sources is important, as is the ability to identify public affairs issues, opportunities and risks in an international environment. The ability to prioritize and work well in a dynamic team environment is also required. Excellent written communications skills, including the ability to write in a clear and concise style, as well as IT knowledge are desirable.

Languages

Korean and English are working languages of the ASEM SMEs Eco-Innovation Center (ASEIC). However, native English speaker is strongly encouraged to apply for this position.

Remuneration

Competitive part-time salary offered.
