infoDev, the World Bank Group Visited ASEIC
Three representatives from infoDev in the World Bank Group visited ASEIC on April 16, 2013. Mr. Jonathan Coony, project coordinator, Mr. Anthony Lambkin, task manager and Ms. Henna Lee, resource management analyst, as well as Mr. Juhern Kim from GGGI, had a meeting with the Center and discussed about possible cooperation opportunities between infoDev and ASEIC.
infoDev is a global partnership program within the World Bank Group which works at the intersection of innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship to create opportunities for inclusive growth, job creation and poverty reduction. InfoDev’s Climate Technology Program (CTP) is housed at infoDev and supports the private sector in developing countries - targeting SMEs and entrepreneurs - to innovate in novel technologies and business models to address local climate challenges.
The CTP’s flagship initiative is the development and implementation of country-level Climate Innovation Centers (CICs). The CICs are designed as locally owned and run institutions that provide a suite of services and venture financing that address the specific needs of local climate innovators and companies. CIC Kenya opened in 2011, and now CIC Vietnam is expected to open by the end of 2013.
After introducing each organization’s activities, both organizations agreed that there will be partnership opportunities across various project areas and that they will keep in touch to seek more feasible channels in combining efforts towards the ultimate goal of eco-innovation inSMEs.
