2013 ASEM Eco-Innovation Index; The second round of ASEI has started!
The ASEM Eco-Innovation Index (ASEI) is to measure the level and status of eco-innovation of ASEM member countries in quantitative and qualitative manner. ASEI expects to promote eco-innovation at a regional and global level creating an active stage of communication between Europe and Asia and, as a result, encourage governments to enhance their eco-innovation related policies and regulations.

This year’s ASEI will be focusing more on how to define eco-innovation for SMEs, and on the ways to objectively measure the status of eco-innovation of SMEs in each member country, embracing the value of diversity and sustainability.

On the 16th of May, ASEI had its first advisory meeting with experts from various fields. Advisors offered their expertise in ASEI, and in aspects of sustainable development, to link the ASEI with the ultimate goal of sustainable development, environmental policies to secure a balanced and comprehensive view of the index, statistics and methodology for a sound methodological approach, and regional studies to reflect the practical situations of developing countries in the Asian region.

ASEI now plans to have national and international advisory meetings to establish a concrete goal and direction, as well as regional and global partnership opportunities to promote eco-innovation.
